so maybe someone can tell me something more constructive about myself to really, oh well, help.

on centre backs..

the game against esfc.. it was the fourth game for neng and delwyn workin together.. personally i feel that one needs more than 10 games to adjust to a new position.. they have just started.. they are the only brave souls willing to do the dirty work.. i am very sure they prefer to be oufield attackin.. this kind of selfless sacrifice is laudable.. if one thinks he or she can do a better job.. one should volunteer oneself not by volunteerin others..

on slidin..

i hate it when heinze miss his slidin tackles.. my bunkmate(obviously manyou fan) will shower him with vulgarities everytime his butt touches the grass.. i think slidin is only when one is out of position.. to make up for the distance between one and the attacker..

on the football i want..

this field football is gradually becomin a forlorn hope.. its not goin to be easy.. we will try..

Quote from Everton's assistant manager Alan Irvine.
The best teams have always been able to tell each other what they think. Everyone talks about team spirit, well team spirit isn't about always being everybody's friend, or telling them the good things.

It's about being able to tell them what you think and what they need to do to help you, and people have to accept it and not take it as being something personal.

When people can argue, get on with things and still be friends, that's when you know you've really great spirit.

zenots, i guess it's advisable not to be affected. not by such stuff.

all of us who've played together 'post-wayne' knows we've really got something going on for us these days, although we sometimes tried to doubt or question ourselves. but we had thought about it some more and we realise that things really are looking up for us.

so there's every reason to keep our minds and hearts at ease and be unwavered and unaffected. in terms of retrospection and introspection we are more mature and sensible then most teams out there, collectively and individually, so we have to continue keeping our mental fortress tight. this is of utmost benefit and importance.

dust our shoulders and smile.

I guess recent "disturbance" has caused a revert in my decision to go on a hiatus.
So, amidst all things, let me share a little reflection on a reading I did.

2) Positive Attitude: If You Believe You Can, You Can

3) Problem Solving: You Can't Let Your Problem Be a Problem

4) Self-Discipline: The First Person You Lead is You

5) Servanthood: To Get Ahead, Put Others First

6) Generosity: Your Candle Loses Nothing When It Lights Another

On the other hand, maybe some people just lack love from their parents to make such comments if I may divert the attention.

not so sure abt me being a left back... and while i did not attack much initially from the right cus i was either busying tucking in or staying back during the first half (in the first place, the play seldom come to the right), i certainly won my fair share of tackles when playing centre mid. i may seem laid back as a midfielder, but did i give number 21 or number 8 any rooms to roam forward during my time in the middle (did they even beat me) ? did i not offer short option for ivan and likoon? did i not get out of trouble when im put under tight situation a few times? did i not deliver decent set pieces, three corners resulting three attempts on goal? fine if you don't see it, there's no video replay and people can say whatever they want, even though i don't think my fellow midfield partner at that period of time will be as unappreciative as loy towards what i've done. and yea, i don't think its that much of a bad record for me to have clocked 8 goals and 12 assists in my 22 games for hornyteam.

then again, if the majorities are to agree that i do not justify my starting place, feel free to drop me. i rather play by myself on the sidelines than playing a makeshift role, and, not to pin-point any of the players that loy deemed as better midfielders than me, see if they can really play better than myself.

wah pian !!! after so much talkin and discussion, zenots still didn't mentioned the fact that the defenders need to know the basics of executing offside traps!!!

i'm disappointed... don give people ratings jus to make people happy, tell them what needs to be done.... is a rating of 6 good for everyone, or for most of us??? i certainly don think so... and in my personal opinion, delwyn certainly played better than uneng, be nice to him.... and most importantly, those who don dare to head the ball kindly learn how to, if not it usually means you're not suited to play field soccer.... i remembered one incident during the game in the second half, ESFC's keeper picked up a tame ball off the ground, proceeded to kick the ball high up in the sky, ball went towards uneng's direction, hewent for it seemingly ready to head, but freakin missed it!!! worst of all, i saw him closed his eyes seconds before he missed it....

if you can't head a ball or worst don dare to, pls don be a centreback.... jus cause people tell you to be one or that you think you can, pls don be over-confident... and from what i saw from the game, uneng certainly cannot be one... ivan will have to put him in another position.... doesn't matter if he'll be more prone to errors in a new position, as long as it's less threatenin... cause to miss a header when nobody's challengin with it, it's jus schoolyard bullshit... centrebacks cannot miss headers.... that applies to delwyn to and ivan too...

i could have missed some headers too durin those games i've played for you guys since the start, but what are the chances of me missin a sky-high header compared to you three??? and most importantly, i love to play as a right back and i'm more confident in it cause i know my abilities and what i can do there, and that's the position i've been playin for my other teams as well.... for uneng, if he's not fast, it would have to mean he has to read the game, the flow, the passing of ball much much better than others to make up for it.... and once again from what i saw from the game, none was present... i was doin most of the shoutin durin the first half, both CBs did a lil shoutin but i still can't hear shit despite only few yards away most of times....

even while doin this post now, i'm so pissed about those offside trap bullshit i saw from my team.... you guys should have seen my face frown like never before.... pls guys, the goals we conceded were rubbish.... (leavin out kyle's own goal for this one....) CBs, if you guys wanna play offside, be darin and push all the way, shout for it all the way... no one would try to play a offside trap, shout to the ref for it, then stand there and watch!!! what if the ref doesn't blow for it??? we should always keep on runnin, cause if it's really an offside offence, and if the player who's offside comes for the ball, the ref should call for it.... if he doesn't, at least we have players back for rebounds, at least we'll have the CBs....

pls guys, think about this... to lose a game cause off a ref's bad call is sad, demoralisin, degradin, and whatever you can think of.... my point is still if you wanna play offside, go for it all the way.... don let the ref think that you're unsure of what you're doin when it comes to executin offside traps.... then he'll take you seriously from then on....

soccer's about scorin goals, not defending, no shit..... but how is there a team that's ok at scorin, less than ok in midfield but still ok, but is really really bad at defence??? attack is the best defence, no shit.... but we still gotta have a decent backline in case opponents counter.... defenders can't head the ball, don know how to play offside, never do a sliding tackle before in their lives, what kinda defenders are these??? none of our defenders did a sliding tackle durin the entire game, except for me and aka not-to-be-named player.... our ex-player for that game, weilin did superbly in the right-back position, heads well, slides well, aggressive, he truly understood how to be a defender.... these are the basics of a defender.... i may not be really aggressive, but i make up for it with my headers and slidin tackles.... sometimes, it's not jus about "ok, i'm close enough to a 50-50 situation where i can jus stick a leg out, and kick the ball out for an opposition throw in"..... NO, NO, NO!!! defenders SHOULD try to win the ball in a whatever tackle that is, be it a shoulder charge, a push-and-pull tussle, a 50-50 tackle whereby both players slide in for the ball.... it's REALLY not jus about puttin the ball out in a opposition-attackin-situation.... learn to slide, not jus to slide but slide well, try to win the ball in your sliding momentum.... cause if you don win the ball, you at least got the player and a foul is called, which in turns stop play....

which makes me recall somethin i left out, when the opposition keeper pumps a ball high up into the sky, midfielders should be headin the ball not the CBs, unless the keeper can kick the ball real far, all the way to our keeper.... CBs should jus stay put, IN CASE an accidental bad header or back header happens, then they can take it from there.... it's the midfielders' job to head the high balls.... ok, for our really amateur games, most keepers can't really kick far, the ball should most often land somewhere still near the halfway line.... if the CBs are headin those high balls from keepers, it would mean they're too close to the halfway line, which is a bad thing cause a simple miskick from our player backwards or an unintended clearance from opposition player could send any of their strikers easily through on goal, playin themselves onside simply cause myCBs are too close to the halfway line....

be it soccer for us it's jus for entertainment, but surely you guys wanna improve on your play too right??? i haven't seen anythin yet from you guys, any improvement... maybe jus a lil improvement from some players like kyle as keeper, name-can't-be-mentioned player, delwyn, songQ, yuxian.... i miss playin with sirseng that day, cause he's someone i know will go in with his tackles FULL.... he may not have good touches and pace, but i like that he has the physique and knows how to use it.... guys, appreciate him more and use him more often, even for the whole game, and that he should jus be a CB.... cause he'e not afraid of any high balls or challenges too.... i should jus stick with right back....

the rest of the guys i've never mentioned that i see improvements in, you're welcome to hate me.... and ivan, pls don put people in the team to play or sub them jus because some subs had already came down for the game.... you have to be firm with your selections.... you're the captain, you started the team, you're also a close friend to most of them, they should understand if a particular someone is not called to play or asked to play in a unfamiliar position.... put people with quality amongst you all into the startin eleven.... on Sat, you sub me in for aka not-to-be-mentioned player durin the second half of the game was one of your worst call ever.... he's playin alright throughout, hard challenges and tackles, winnin headers and stuff, even a blind guy can see he's doin fine.... why bring him out??? maybe it was this wrong move that led to the goal somehow???

you guys may be winnin some previous games, may be scorin goals more often now, but the play you guys said was ok??? i beg your pardon... i'm gonna have to give a negative 2, on a scale of 1 to 10.... by stringin a few passes together, and lastly one pass that leads to a goal is not good enough!!! you guys been playin for quite sometime together already, play should have been much much smoother.... what i see as good from my other more established teams, is to be able to string passes together from our keeper, then all the way to goal.... and most importantly, NO ONE should dribble when they have the ball, only the strikers are allowed to do that.... wingers and full-backs, strictly no fancy tricks and stuff, maybe a lil step-overs that's it.... all they should do for now, the old-fashion "push the ball forward-and-run" technique, then pass or cross the ball, only when you have much open space to run from the start that is.... in our cases when we have the ball we dribble, most often we'll lose the ball or we can't pass the ball well after dribbling.... except for people like richard and yuxian, they're gems and they most certain can dribble much better than most people in the team....

ok, enough for now.... last but not least.... ivan, kindly try this formation against a weak team aight.... mavericks's callin......

1. keeper: wayne (get him back, or get kangjie)

2. left-back: zenots (personally i felt you're nowhere good in any part of midfield, and you'll have to take this comment seriously and not get mad, cause you've always been the one to write critics after a game. if you can write, then you can take)

3. centre-back: kyle (waste of talent for a keeper, very strong, aggressive, heads the ball well, not afraid of challenges/ delwyn next in line, he's quite strong physically, and can do simple thing like headin a sky high ball which i appreciate much, he'll do better in future games)

4. centre-back: sirseng (very strong, i'm guessin he's stronger than kyle, can head the ball, much leg power to clear the ball, aggressive)

5. right-back: me (if i'm still in the team, if not the guy with specs playin right mid in the seond half, cause he's fast and do slidin tackles)

6. left-mid: yuxian (nothin much to say, dribbles well, can't really shoot unless it's a scramble or rebound, haven't seen him head the ball much, pretty strong physically, aggressive, fast)

7. right-mid: max (he should do ok on the right too cause he's right-footed, work on your pace or better still don work on it at all, let him be a winger that doesn't run much, cause he can hold ball well, upper body quite strong, strong calf muscles too, can switch play from flank to flank, imagine that)

8. centre-mid left: ivan ( you can't head the ball well, but you're pretty aggressive, dribbles well too, fast, but you should be passin more than dribblin, you'll do fine in this position, but pls learn to head the ball, all heights and speed, and slide too)

9. centre mid centre: richard ( no need to say much, good dribbler, shoots well, heads ok, fast, pretty aggressive, wonderful awareness and passin range, definitely will excel in this position better than left winger or striker in my opinion)

10. centre-mid right: cannot-mention-name player (aggressive, heads well, love him for optin to give short passes rather than long passes, tackles well, slides well, fast, understand he has a defensive duty rather than attackin)

11. striker: songq (need i say more, actually maybe at times he over-dribbles, losin possession then, hope he understands that opposition knows he's a threat and surely would use more men on him, so i thinkhe should be doin what others do when under pressure which is to pass the ball rather than try to dribble his way out, cause i jus mentioned there'll be more than 1 player markin him most times)

verdict: ivan, your back 4 defence problem should be settled cause you have 2 hard men in the heart of defence (kyle, sirseng), centre-mid shouldn't be a problem cause you have 2 pretty hard men in richard and name-cannot-be-mentioned player and that most importantly they both can head aerial balls from goal kicks, you should be standing behind them when they go for headers to take care of wayward headers, max and zenots are the new try-outs, see how they do ba, if you have weilin back play him at left back, don sub max for zenots cause we don need any more fast players on the flanks, we've plenty of pace in LM, CML, CMC, CMR already, there's really not much need for another pacy player, reason i don put max in CM cause he can't head the ball.... i think i did a pretty decent job in tryin to cover all the loopholes in your formation, like in terms of heading aerial balls, aggression, speed, awareness, these should be all solved, try it out aight.....

my bad for most often bringing up the words "head", "slide"..... but there're really some things you have to do when playin in certain positions..... see for example, max doesn't head the ball, put him on the flanks, maybe he'll go some good.... and ivan cause he has already got aerial covers in richard and not-to-mentioned-name player so ivan doesn't have to worry about sliding tackles or headers much.....

peace to all, take the comments like a man aight, no hard feelings....

FINAL SCORE READS -- Hornyteam 3:4 Everyday Sunday Football Club

SCORERS -- songq X 2, yuxian

HOW THE MATCH WENT --
1. hornyteam took the early lead through a counter-attack. junrong won the ball in midfield and handed it to richard. richard threaded a delicate throughpass for songq to finish calmly. 1-0 hornyteam.

2. everyday sunday football club (esfc) equalised through a well-constructed set piece move. a free kick from ahbang fell cunningly in between kyle, neng and del, just enough for their striker to steal in and touch home. 1-1 esfc.

3. hornyteam restored the lead deep into first half. strong pressure from songq forced ahbang into making a fatal backpass which yuxian took no mercy to kill. 2-1 hornyteam.

4. esfc equalised soon after the second half has started. a low cross from the right was left unattended by delwyn, to which their striker held off ivan's challenge to slot home. 2-2 esfc.

5. esfc scored another goal in quick succession. a deep cross from the left dropped wickedly in between kyle, neng and del (again), and their striker had no problem lobbing kyle. 3-2 esfc.

6. hornyteam equalised against the run of play. a clearance pass from loy sent songq through, and the gangly striker did not disappoint. 3-3 hornyteam.

7. esfc came out on top moments before the game was concluded via a direct corner as kyle uncharacteristically punched the curling ball into his own net. 3-4 to esfc the final scoreline.

INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCE --

kyle (6) : couldn't be faulted much except for his "sucker punch".

loy (6) : started the game solidly at right back but was unable to last through the half. came in again in the second half as a centre mid and despite the assist, couldn't really establish himself.

ivan (6) : his trademark overlapping runs were non-existant today as he was busy containing the opposing winger.

neng (6) : didn't really put much wrong feet, but his lack of pace was exposed alongside max.

delwyn (5.5) : his composure wore out as the game wore on. didn't have the best of games in terms of his clearance.

zhiping (6) : was tinkered around, started well with loy on the right to nullify the attacking threats; switched into the centre for the second half and although he did win his fair share of tackles/interceptions, ought to have provided more protection for likoon and max. shifted again to the left as the clock ticked down and was unable to draw any mickey mouse out of the hat.

player decline-to-be-named (6) : played alright in the centre of the park, though the energy level was slightly lower than usual.

junrong (6) : held the midfield well in the first period. came in for the same position midway through the second period but was unable to replicate his original form.

yuxian (6.5) : credit to him for being at the right place, right time to score. missed a one-on-one chance though which might have otherwise wrap the game up.

richard (6.5) : nice assist for songq. tried his best to run at opponents but faded eventually in the second half.

songq (7.5) : continued his scoring form with a brace, once again owing to his physical prowess.

max (5) : still suffering from the ferdinand syndrome.

likoon (5.5) : performance was less assuring than his previous one. need to go in harder for challenges.

VERDICT --
to be honest, our performance wasn't that bad despite the depressing match ratings (just to spice you guys up). the first half in particular was pretty organised, and yes that's what we are capable of and should be producing on a consistent basis. good to see that everyone was gutted about the defeat though, its the first sign of a winner's mentality... and on a more reflective note, there ought to be more communication at the back: neng and del were surprisingly quiet today, especially in the second half -- remember how you guys called for each other against the marvericks? i understand its always demoralising to concede goals, but a game is never over till the final whistle blows. the way esfc crawled themselves back into the game should serve all of us as a painful reminder.

LINE-UP --
kyle, loy (max'25), neng, del, ivan, zhiping, ??? (loy'65), junrong (likoon'45), yuxian (junrong'70), richard, songq
