HORNYTEAM 2:2 ALEXXX highlights
you can order the full match vcd from zhiping, but remember to provide him with two blank cds. a pity we did'nt get to video the match against kickat due to technical errors; however fret not, our media officer loy will be working on that before our next game, most probably against the ORANJE team, around september first. hopefully we'll be able to get our new set of jerseys by then, and speaking of that, the team has currently short-listed three different designs, all within the price range from 29 to 32 (inclusive of jersey, shorts, socks, number and name printing). click the below for sample pics:

We may be playing the best football in a long time, but somewhat ironically, Wayne is correct about what he emphasised. It's not about the result. It's about who you do it with. It's about whether you can identify with the guy next to you. I hope everything won't turn out to be one big irony.

i dont know why but this game was the longest we ever had... the horny referee added on a total of abt 15mins... kudos 2 him for being reasonabily fair despite being the KITKAT's player...
anyway, i was in sir-nan-di-ree position 4 most of the match, here r some fragmented memories-
a.1 of the rare occasions where de left wing got past max, he cut in n i was caught in a dillema, to cover the near post or the running man towards de 6-yard box, luckily i managed to tipped his cross and collect the ball...
b.1 of the rare times loy miskicked ball as the spainard fed a throughball, i was backtracking den suddenly rushing out to attempt to clear de ball, i dunno how or y, i chipped de ball over de advancing striker n collected it easily...
c.1 of the rare moment of defensive mixed up, the cross from a corner was headed in by a free man whom some1 i cant remember was supposed to but wasnt marking him, ivan tried to cover but de striker's header went in after hitting de far post, if de unidentified teammate had marked his man, ivan dun need to rush out from de far post, even if he headed there, ivan would have cleared it...
d.1 of the rare saves i make, de striker unleashed a freaking ferocious gerrard-strike from inside de box which i instintively was full stretch 2 palmed away, slightly injuring 2 of my fingers in de process...
kudos to de team 4 winning this tough fixture which included several horny malays... we have to work on de few occasions our defence got stranded so that we can have a clean sheet, our 1st, soon...

how the match went --
the match was played in a secluded field at khatib. kickat started the game strongly, switching the ball from flank to flank with purpose. hornyteamers were unfazed however, as showed when they began to string passes back and forth once they gained possession. kickat, despite outstanding dribbling skills from their midfielders, were unable to create an opening as hornyteam frustrated them with disciplined possession play. hornyteam soon took the lead with a weilin's long ball from the half way line miraculously went into the net. kickat keeper argued that he was distracted by the bull-dozing kayun, but his appeal was turned down by the ref.
gaining confidence, hornyteam began to up the tempo. winning the ball down left, zhiping sprinted pass his marker and advanced down the wing. a change of pace saw him evading another defender, and he sent a pin point cross towards delwyn who volleyed home with zest. boasted by the two goal cushion, hornyteam dominated the play and their slick passing left kickat's backline stranded on several occassions. unfortunately, kickats were not pushovers. in fact, their technical ability is easily one of the best among all other hornyteam's opponents, and that was showed immediately as kickat scored right before half time from a corner kick. obviously well rehearsed, the ball was played flawlessly into the far post and a late run from no.12, one of their attacker, headed the ball past wayne. a hornyteam win seemed doubtful then as kickat ended the first half with a shout.
hornyteam restarted with their usual four three three formation. kickat, motivated by their late goal before half time, started to run riot but were still unable to change the scoreline as hornyteam defenders shut the doors well. kickat did get the first shot out though, as their main target man no.9 unleashed a scorcher from the edge of the penalty box, which wayne was forced to dive full stretch to tip it over the bar.
then against the run of play, hornyteam extended their lead. receiving the ball on the left side once again, zhiping took his time to control, and upon realising there's no teammates inside the box, he went for the goal, curling the ball into the top right hand corner of the net. hornyteam went ecstatic and kickat's morale was severely dented. so smooth was hornyteam's play that they scored another goal within minutes, as richard started off a mazy run and finished off with his right foot coolly inside the near post.
with a three goal lead to fall back on, hornyteam began to take their foot off the pedal. desperate to overturn the deficit, kickat attacked vigorously, and was unlucky as their main striker no.9 slipped at the crucial moment when he was put through, while hitting the crossbar with a rising shot on another occassion. hornyteam still managed to threathen on counter attack, with richard and kayun both missing good chances, and zhiping having a shot which was ruled out suspiciously as the ref deemed that it did'nt go pass the line.
kickat finally got their well deserved goal when their no.7 eventually penetrated pass hornyteam's defence and scored. the effort was unable to change the course of the game though, as hornyteam held on and clocked their most convincing victory in years.
verdict --
excellent game. as kayun said, we probably played our best football ever, and considering the quality of our opponents, its worth celebrating even more. one thing to note though is still our last fifteen minutes. i wonder issit a stamina problem or a mental one, as we just doesnt seem to have the ability to end a game with the rhythm under our control, which could be very costly.
match ratings --
wayne(7): made a superb save, and was flawless most of the time. still needs to communicate with the defence more.
max(8): one word, solid. no matter how tricky the opponents are, they can never get pass max. an outstanding last ditch tackle on kickat's no.9 epitomized max's performance today.
ivan(7.5): confident display from the left back. supported the attack well and was able to recover most of the time. crossing can still be improved.
loy(8): steady performance. stood in for AK today and excelled throughout the match.
songq(7.5): was a rock in the first half. switched to centre mid in the second half and seemed lost. his ability to win aerial ball is awesome though.
weilin(7.5): scored a rather fluke goal. played with discipline although opponents' superb dribbling skills did give him a hard time. switched to centre back in the second half and defended well.
sirseng(7): getting better in his new role. his passing conversion rate is incredible. can still improve on his positioning sense.
zhiping(8): the birthday boy was a constant threat down the left, assisting delwyn's goal and scoring a wonderful curler. birthday gift perhaps?
richard(8): played with aggression today. his pace really unsettled the opponent's defence, as shown when he scored that solo goal.
delwyn(7): scored the decisive second goal. his speed and strength is a welcome addition for the team. would be even more frightening if he had better ball control.
kayun(6.5): was a menace in the first half with his physical presence. faded in the second half however as he's actually on attend B.
kangchiat(6.5): the reserve keeper showed his potential when he stood in for wayne in the last 30 minutes or so.

its not that i DUN wanna be commanding, its de defence that dun listen. i've been shouting throughout de match but people seldom listen. sometimes its very difficult to play when u tried to organise de defence n ur own defender not onli dun listen but told the others to do opposite. i admit im not a good keeper, the 2 shows were unsavable due to a chain of mistakes by de usually wen players. the next match u all can redeem urself. maybe kayun should play keep den i c how he deal with de above situation, i can take over xuen's place ba...

FINAL SCORE READS -- HORNYTEAM 2:2 ALEXXX

how the match went --
the match was played under the scorching sun at bukit timah field. hornyteam started hesitantly, and was warned immediately when a cross from the left was not properly dealt with and alexxx's star striker ken seized in and hit the crossbar. failing to learn their lesson, hornyteam soon conceded when another cross was sent in after richard lost possession on the left and this time round ken made no mistake with a first time shot that went well beyond wayne.
hornyteam regained their rhythm after the goal however, with zhiping missing their first chance. a one two with richard saw zhiping broke free at the top left edge of the penalty box, but his shot was curling too much and it went agonisingly pass the post. the goal did arrive soon though, a throw in from richard found sirseng who fed kayun, who in turn composed himself well to drill a shot that rebounded off the inside of the near post and across the goal, leaving an onrushing serhwee with the easiest of finishes. hornyteam then managed to get the lead, a pass frm richard found kayun inside the penalty box, and the striker, under intensive pressure, calmly faked his marker and placed a low shot into the near post.
hornyteam switched to 4-4-2 in the second half and started out strongly, attacking wave after wave. a threathening low cross from richard was almost converted by kayun, but somehow the ball ended at the corner flag while kayun ended in the goal. hornyteam almost doubled their lead once again when a splitting pass from loy sent zhiping clear down the left, but his pin-point cross was headed wide by kayun. another chance was wasted when kenneth and delwyn combined well down the right resulting delwyn rounding the keeper, but his subsequent cross/shot deflected an alexxx defender and looped just over the bar. so unlucky was the team that even the usually reliable ak missed a free header inside the six yard box from a corner.
hornyteam was duly punished for their erring finishing, as alexxx began to get more of the possession in the last quarter hour. the goal finally came when yuan ming frm alexxx took a quick free kick and ken fell to the ground while challenging for the ball. clearly affected by the incident, the whole of hornyteam backline remained stagnant as the korean left back from alexxx capitalised to smack the free ball home. hornyteam tried to push for the winning goal but its all too late and thus the match ended 2-2.
verdict --
simple, we should have won this one. its not just about the chances we've missed, but we seriously should have slowed down the pace and retain more possession in the last 20 min, instead of playing direct as if we're behind. nevertheless, a lesson learned, lets do better for our next match which without cock up should be on 12th of august, saturday.
player ratings --
wayne(6): did'nt really make obvious mistakes, and the two goals were both unsavable. still needs to be more commanding in the box.
max(6.5): partly guilty for the first goal, apart frm that he's had a good game as opponent wingers found it tough to get pass him one-on-one. played a few uneccessary dangerous ball accross the centre though.
yuxian(6.5): pretty solid most of the time, although his positioning left much to be desired as left back isn't his natural position. overlapped well and provided several telling crosses in the first half.
songq(7.5): was given a hard time by alexxx's star striker ken but managed to shut him out most of the time.
ak(7.5): unsung hero at the back, ak managed to cover yuxian on a few occassions when the left side is exposed; teamed up with songq well too.
loy(7): not as commanding as his first game, but was steady nevertheless, winning and distributing the ball well.
sirseng(6.5): strong on possession, though his lack of pace was exposed sometimes.
zhiping(7): played reasonably well with some neat passes and control. carved out a good chance for kayun in the second half which could have sealed alexxx's fate.
richard(7): overdribbled at times, but was generally threathening. assisted kayun for hornyteam's second goal.
serhwee(7): showed some classy touches, but was guilty of being too attacking sometimes. scored hornyteam's first goal.
kayun(8): outstanding performance from kayun as he created hornyteam's first goal and scored the second, although he would have become hornyteam's first ever hat trick hero if he's able to make all those opportunities count.
neng(6): subbed in as a right back in the second half and did an okay job considering its not his natural position. his gigantic size definitely scared a few shits out of the opponents.
delwyn(6): subbed in as a centre mid in the second half and worked tirelessly, although it seems that his touches were kinda rusty today.
kenneth(6.5): subbed in as a right winger in the second half. did make a few runs down the wing but was partly guilty for the second goal.
