fcuk love, england is over-rated.
england on -4 handicap against andorra? that must be one of the most over-rated handicap ever.
i didnt bet on england, couldn't and wouldn't. in fact, i should have taken andorra on the handicap. seriously, how would england manage to muster up enough quality for more than 4 goals? eventually they came up short with 3. For some reason, i believed in england, i believed they could change things around. Much to my anticipation though, the soccernet morning news told me england disappointed once again.
what i'm trying to say is in life, we believe too much in own shit. sometimes, we encounter shit, but we are so delusional that we see chocolate cake. england is that crap. hell they have been all but shit after 1966. once in a while they turn things around, circa 1996, but on the whole even the bookmakers over-rate them(this point is mightily open to contention, but i'll make it nonetheless).
so stop the keeping-the-faith shit, at least with england.
(disclaimer: this is not a betting tip, lest the bookmakers reverse kiap. for eg, offering england -2.5 against andorra, then you take andorra and lose. then again, thats another matter as i don't know how the bookmakers work. in the end, betting is either a whole lot of statistical research work if you can do the research and have access to the immense statistical data, plus alot of luck or simply a whole lot of luck.)

HOW THE MATCH WENT --
Dunmanites started the match comfortably, instantly unsettling Hornyteam's makeshift backline consisting of max, kyle, neng and weilin. Hornyteam managed to survive these nervy moments however, and in fact was the first team to have a sniff on goal: a through ball from richard sent songq racing through, which the later then fired a shot wide when he could have passed to zhiping who was in a better position.
Dunmanites immediately punished Hornyteam for not taking their chance. A throw in from the right wing was well received by jason, whom despite being closely attended by max outside the penalty box, expertly turned and lobbed the ball into the top corner, leaving wayne with no chance.
Forcing to go gung-ho, Hornyteam poured on to attack. After some neat triangle involving weilin, serhwee and zhiping, zhiping managed to evade a dunmanite defender at the edge of the penalty box and sent in a pin point cross for songq, whom failed to connect with his head by just inches. Songq then hit the side netting with a ferocious shot, after zhiping chipped the ball over the head of dunmanite's right back. Another chance was wasted when zhiping was sent through by richard, and despite having a clear view of the goal, decided to pass to songq who was just offside. So unlucky was Hornyteam as a top quality long shot from weilin rattled the cross bar, and then bounced away from the goal line. At half time, 1-0 to Dunmanites.
Second half saw serhwee switching position with sirseng and richard switching position with zhiping, which proved to be a tactical mistake. Hornyteam midfield suddenly lost its shape, and was hit once again when bryan intercepted a richard's back pass and sent a low shot which wayne really should have saved, after running half the length of the pitch with noone closing down on him. Hornyteam could have replied when serhwee sent in a fabulous cross from the right flank after being put through by songq, but zhiping's header from the penalty box sealed just over the cross bar to the relief of Dunmanite's keeper zirong. Dunmanites then began to dominate the midfield, though Hornyteam did have two late chances with richard sending a free kick agonizingly wide and wayne hitting the post from a tight angle.
MATCH RATING --
wayne (6): am still wondering how did he concede the 2nd goal. the half time antic was utterly uneccessary. hit the post once late in the game when going outfield, but that's about it.
max (5.5): obviously lacking in confidence. someone need to shake him up.
weilin (7): had a decent game, overlapping like nobody's business. his outstanding strike late in the half would have changed the face of the game, if not for the crossbar.
kyle (6.5): started rather nervously, mistiming a few clearance; but performance improved as the game went on.
neng (7): stood tall literally. the next thing he can work now on is possibly composure on the ball.
sirseng (6): the birthday boy did'nt enjoy the best of games, and his frustration was clearly shown when he hurled abuse on alan during a handball incident.
delwyn (6): worked his socks off but it seems that he's better off at the wings.
richard (6): started okay, carving out several chances while using his strength well. faded when the team went down however, he's capable of much more.
zhiping (6.5): didnt have much chance to run at opponents as he would have liked. did created some openings but it counted for nothing in the end. missed a glorious header in the second half.
serhwee (6.5): fullfilled his roles well. always providing the width and sent in a few important crosses in the second half.
songq (6): credit to him for getting into threathening positions, but really with the chances he had he should have at least scored a hat trick.
ivan (6): came in midway during second half and supported the attack well, though the game was already lost.
kenneth (6): came in late in the game and showed some neat composure as centre back.
VERDICT--
We can blame it on luck, but the fact is that we didnt take out chances, and the punishment served us well. what's lacking in my opinion however is the bite and the fighting spirit. playing flowing football doesnt mean giving up on the basic dog-fights. we're not zinedine zidane.

quarreling or communicating is subjected to personal view. all i can say is nowadays i do set higher standard for myself, as well as others.
anyhow, a piece of good news to share. there are another two teams lining up after this sat's match. one of them is green meadow which we won them 5-1 the previous meeting, another is an indian team called aston "vela" apparently. the temporary schedule is as such : vs green meadow 25th march, vs aston vela 31st march.
so, early congrats to hornyteam takers.

if i never remember wrongly.. we played this team two and a half years ago.. kyle scored twice to hand us a memorable victory.. that time bingchen was still an active member.. manfred was still aound to perform bicycle kicks.. two and a half years how much have we grown.. maybe we will end up quarellin in the middle of the game.. saturday will tell us..

I am sorry, on behalf of hornyteam, for one my fellow player's reckless and foul play this morning against juzkicktheball. Our apologies extend to juzkicktheball forward Zhipeng, who suffered an injury due to repeatedly over-enthusiastic mistimed tackles by the abovementioned player. We wish Zhipeng a speedy recovery and are grateful for the chance to play against your team.

match rating --
wayne (8) : arguably his best match for hornyteam. pulled off a strings of saves esp in the first half to save our asses.
max (7) : neutralised zhipeng completely until the later scored a speculative goal.
kayun (7) : strong at the back. made a number of saving tackles but tend to dribble into trouble at times.
weilin (6) : never really got it going. looked a lil lethargic, prolly cus he's feeling unwell.
zhiping (6.5) : control was a lil off courtesy of a knock on his right ankle (thanks to tharman's son). yoko-yoko allowed him to ignore the pain though as he was all over the place to shake opponents off while managing to switch play on a few occassions.
loy (6) : looks a lil off the pace, made some intelligent runs but couldnt capitalise. scored hornyteam's first goal after wasting much chances but was in guilt of juzkicktheball's second goal as his back pass set the opponent through.
ivan (6.5) : the captain finally made his come back after a long hiatus. was the initial villain tho' when his weird decision allowed zhipeng to equalise with five minutes to go. made it up with some clever play afterwards, setting delwyn and loy free on a few occassions, and finally got his reward when his pass lead to an own goal by juzkicktheball's player.
delwyn (6.5) : hardworking as usual, could have been the hero tho' as he spurred a glorious centre from ivan with the goal at his mercy from 3 metres out.
sirseng (6.5) : managed to hold the ball well at times, and his physical presence was crucial. couldn't really settle into a passing rhythm though as the whole team struggled.
verdict --
an awful match i would say with balls spending more time in the air rather than on the ground. players were congested in the middle as the pitch doesn't have much width, making it hard to move the ball around -- even a simple triangle or one two became a luxury. glad to see most players stood firm under such difficult conditions tho', the fact that zhiping recorded his career high no. of headers sums it all. gotta improve on our concentration however as we conceded late ONCE AGAIN, and almost gave the match away by conceding a damn soft goal in the extra time. football cant be pretty all the time and its something that we've got no choice but to live with.
